Milankovitch Cycles

This theory predicts that the Earth's climate is influenced by periodic changes in the Earth's orbit round the Sun. For example the Earth wobbles as it spins, like a top which is about to fall over. This "precession" happens once every 26,000 years. The observation of past climate from deep-ocean cores has confirmed this theory, although there are still unexplained variations in climate.
